First Day of Pre School. Stop it.

Dear Jack,
Yesterday was your first day of pre school.
Most moms cry the first morning of preschool.
But not me.
I knew how hard you had worked to be able to go to pre school.
How many hours of working with Miss Jamie you have put in in the last year..
You've really been working hard.

You are such a smart little dude.
Always innovating ways around our booby traps, and safety gadgets.
Your ability to sniff out a sharpie or pen is beyond impressive.
Forget the washable markers and crayons.
Those are for BABIES!
You are on the fast track my baby.

They say the world is your canvas.
And I believe that to be true.
I know you are going to take your canvas and make it as
colorful, wild, and entertaining as a canvas can get.
Your canvas is going to be the very best one.
Because it's going to be all over the walls, floors, chairs, and anyone standing in your path.
It's going to be full of life and love there's no way your masterpieces will fit within a little square.
It is going to be delightful.
Just. Like. You.

Your teachers have no idea what they are in for with you.
When you look at them with your long eyelashes and deep hazels,
begging them to understand what you are asking of them.
Well.
They are not going to know what hit them.
When their soul connects with yours and your smile melts them..
They are not going to be able to help themselves.
You are going to be their favorite.
They are going to help you.
They are going to teach you.
They are going to LOVE YOU!
Everyone does.
You are always a crowd favorite.

Jack.
Please be nice to the other kids.
Please be a good sharer and don't take other kid's toys.
It hurts their feelings.
I know you don't like doing that.
Being in trouble is your least favorite thing in the world.
And also.
Throwing Mr. Potato Heads can hurt people.
So let's not do that either.
K?
Be a good helper.
Clean up your toys, and help others clean up too.
It's the gentlemanly thing to do.
And if it's the last thing I do
I am going to raise a gentleman!
Also.
Gentleman leave their diapers on.  So do that too..
Please do that.

When it's time for circle time. Just do your best.
I know when people sing it makes you mad..
But maybe if you give it a try once or twice,  maybe you will see its fun?
Give it a try Jack.
When it's story time.
Try to hold still and listen.
That one is going to be hard buddy, but just do your best.
Even if those bins full of toys lure you away a few times during the story, it's okay.
Everyone will still love you.
They will be able to see that you are doing your best.
And maybe Miss McKell will let you sit on her lap so you can see the book better?
Give it a try..
If you never ask, the answer will always be no.
So.
Give it a try..
And use your eyes..It will help.
It finally worked on Miss Jamie.
Remember?

And one last thing bud.
Please don't run away.
There seemed to be quite a few needy little kids in your class..
That little girl throwing up in the corner when I left might take up a lot of your teachers time.
So.
She might not notice when you sneak out of the class room and quietly close the door behind yourself.
And those automatically opening and closing doors that lead to the parking lot.
Well.
They leave a little to be desired for your mommy..
Redwood Road is a pretty busy street honey.
So. let's not play out there okay?

Have so much fun with Preschool buddy!
And..
Next week, when you start to cry mid class, maybe you could cry for me instead of daddy?
Your teacher said that she's never seen that before..
Which made me want to trip her as she walked away from me..
And mommies of gentlemen don't do that.
So don't make me okay?

I tried to get a few front porch pics of ya.
But.
We all knew how that was going to play out..
So here's what I mustered up while chasing you around.

Oh and Jack.
Just so you know.
You are my sunshine.
I love you.
And.. I did cry..
But just a little.
:)
